Buat orang awam didunia per-motuba-an (mobil tua bangka/mobkas/mebil bekas) seperti saya ini, lumayan mengejutkan melihat bandrol mobil sedan keluaran pabrikan Perancis-Peugeot, seri 405, 2000cc, rilis 1993, plus modif sederhana ala body kit lemans, cuma dihargai 14jt. Enggak lebih mahal dari motor matic jepang. Padahal secara fisik masih nampak bagus, plus tampilan sporty dan kondisi mesin yang relatif masih lumayan, harga segitu membuat saya hanya bisa geleng-geleng kepala setengah enggak percaya.
Kata beberapa mekanik sih, hal itu disebabkan karena mobil eropa itu rewel (perawatan susah) plus spare part yang mahal. Alhasil konsumen enggan untuk mengoleksinya, ujung-ujungnya harga jadi anjlok. Beda dengan mobil Jepang yang cenderung lebih gampang perawatannya selain itu juga spare part lebih mudah didapatkan dan dengan harga yang murah,... katanya.

Padahal sudah mahfum adanya bahwa mobil eropa itu lebih nyaman dibandingkan mobil jepang. Mentul-mentul lah pokoknya. Coba deh rasain mobil-mobil kayak mercy, bmw, volvo... pasti beda rasanya dengan mobil jepang. Pun dari sisi ergonomis, dengan tipe dan spek yang sama, biasanya mobil eropa juga lebih unggul. Performa ? mobil eropa lebih mantap dikendarai, istilah jawanya lebih antep enggak ampang, imho.
Lha iya, overall mobil eropa itu maknyus, terus isu negatif soal mobil eropa tersebut apa emang bener adanya ? atau sekedar kesimpulan berdasarkan pada opini-opini saja ? mosok sih rewelan jika secara kualitas saja mobil eropa lebih bagus ketimbang mobil jepang ? mosok sih susah perawatannya ? Susah dirawat karena ketika bermasalah susah cari spare part-nya ? Susah cari spare-part karena toko spare part jarang ready stok ? toko spare part gak mau nyetok karena permintaan pasar sedikit ? dan permintaan pasar yang sedikit membuat workshop-workshop enggan membuat spare part versi KW (gak seperti mobil jepang, spare part KW-nya banyak). Makanya spare part mahal karena harus aseli (gak ada yang jual versi KW), disamping itu barang juga gak ready stok jadi harus pesen dulu. Ah, lingkaran setan yang membunuh motuba eropa secara pelan-pelan. Lingkaran setan yang membuat citra motuba eropa sangat buruk.
